THE WMD FILES

STANDALONE SHORT READS

MEET THE TWO NAVY GUYS

David and JR are both US Naval Academy graduates, former Navy officers, and proud Minnesotans. They have been writing together since 2014.

David and J.R. sign Kickstarter limited edition copies of their first co-authored military thriller, Weapons of Mass Deception.

Go behind the scenes with the Two Navy Guys Debrief.

Every Sunday, we take a look at a national security issue and how we have explored that topic is our fiction... and subscribers get a FREE copy of DEATH OF A PAWN.

This writing team uses their strengths to write contemporary national security thrillers drawn from today’s headlines. JR, a CIA-trained case officer and 21-year naval intelligence officer, uses his background to develop complex (and sometimes terrifying) plots for their books. David, a former submarine officer and corporate exec turned full time writer, is the writing muscle that brings JR’s vision to life.

In 2015, the Guys co-wrote, crowdfunded and published Weapons of Mass Deception, a novel about nuclear terrorism by non-state actors. A year later, they repeated the process with Jihadi Apprentice, a novel about homegrown terrorism.

In 2017, they signed a two-book deal with  St Martins Press. Rules of Engagement, a cyberwarfare thriller, was released in June 2019, and The Pandora Deception, which tackles the threat of bioweapons, released in September 2020....during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In late 2020, Bruns and Olson signed a six-book deal with Severn River Publishing to write a spin-off series of The WMD Files.  The new series launched in January 2022 with Command and Control,  and has gone on to sell almost a quarter-million copies.
